'What's That?' Wednesday: Old Kitchens to New Kitchens

Kitchens have come a long way! When you look at these pictures you'll see how styles have changed over the years. They went from old and colorful to modern and stainless steel. Here are some fun photos showing you the differences in kitchens from the 1950's until now. Did you ever have a kitchen that looked like any of these?

1950's - Kitchens were simple and colorful except the appliances, they were mostly white. Pink and teal were the most popular colors in kitchens from the 50's.

1960's - It was all about wooden cabinets in the 60's. Appliances came in colors now, probably because the cabinets were so plain.

1970's - You're going to need sunglasses for these kitchens!! The colors were mostly burnt orange, olive green and harvest gold. The patterns were loud and busy with lots of flowers.

1980's - It looks like things calmed down in the 80's. White and brown were the popular colors. After the loud 70's, they probably wanted plain colors.

1990's - The 90's brought lighter wood tones and more white. Modern light fixtures and better spaces for all the modern appliances that started coming out.

2000 - Wood cabinets got darker and more formal. Fancy trim, special lights and lots of granite counters were used.

2010 - Kitchens now are becoming very modern. These examples are over the top. Clean lines, nothing on the counters and flat cabinets with no handles or stainless steel ones. They are not very cozy either.

My favorite kitchens are from the 2000's. I like the look of them because they are cozy and comfortable. Here is a photo of my dream kitchen. It has a great eat-in area, and GREAT appliances with lots of work space.

What's your dream kitchen look like?
